Intro
The ultimate goal of this project, if successful, is to build what’s never been built before - Scandinavia’s first Norse Mythology-inspired Theme Park.
The road to achieving that is a hard one, full of challenges and lots of convincing. But we have to start from the beginning, the design construct of what is this place going to look like.
I'll guide you through the thoughts behind this amazing project I was fortunate to be part of.
The Logo
The logo plays an important role in representing such a complex world full of gods and legends.
The creative process began with a careful selection of 3 strong elements: the tree of life (Yggdrasil) also named the park, a helmet that symbolizes the gods, and finally the shield, the representation of a Viking warrior.
Those 3 elements give the foundation for the Yggdrasil logo, designed to represent the Norse Mythology World.
My role
As a former Creative Director, my main task was to conceptualize the founder's vision into a visual entertainment storytelling experience.
Just being part of a team whose main job is to explore a world populated by dragons, giant serpents, mythical gods and elves offers great creative opportunities.
My goal was to create a strong brand that can provide unforgettable experiences to its customers soon.
The Story
Yggdrasil Chronicle is an epic Post-Ragnarok fantasy rooted in the sagas of Norse Mythology, Nordic cultural heritage, and folklore. A story about a prophecy, a pact, and a solemn oath – offering a ‘first-hand’ experience of how the Vikings saw the world.
The Vision
NTPs envisions the future of Viking storytelling in Denmark. Fully realizing that Viking theme parks will one day be major Danish attractions, we aim to contribute by creating strong, multi-faceted gamification experiences, based on our own unique, post-Ragnarok universe.
Immersive VR
Immersion Virtual Reality is a perception of being physically present in a non-physical world. The perception is created by surrounding the user of the VR system in images, sound or other stimuli that provide an engrossing total environment.
“Our Viking heritage – and Norse Mythology – has fascinated me for as long as I can remember. But I’ve always felt something’s been missing. A bridge between fact and fiction. A place where people can experience how successful fantasy can meet reality. The portal to the world of Vikings, gods, heroes, and heroines will be Norse Theme Park - and it’s taking shape before our very eyes.”

Boardgame Concept
The story that fuels Yggdrasil Theme Park's lore taps into an essential Viking game believed to have been played by the Norse Gods: Tafl. The term Tafl (Old Norse: 'table/board') is the original Norse name of the game, but it was replaced by Hnefatafl in Scandinavia by the end of the Viking Age.
We wanted to create our own branded version of the Tafl game, incorporating famous Viking landmarks in Copenhagen. Players could visit these landmarks using a special map that provides information bridging mythology with reality.
Concept art for the game
The game box would contain a special map of Copenhagen, a folder with all the locations and the game board and bricks.
The original game had pieces carved in bones and used a cloth board.
